Your Host Maria Mayes is a Well-Being Coach and Meditation Teacher and Mom who's journeyed from self-medicating to meditating. With 10 years in the wine industry and 20 years in the tech industry she's spent the last decade experimenting and training in different wisdom teachings like mediation, yoga, breath-work and Ayurveda to take control of her anxiety and her health. In 2020 she pivoted out of the software industry and into her purpose work founding Take 5, LLC where she helps businesses and individuals take their power back from anxiety and the effects of chronic stress. After rave reviews for her in-person Well-Being and Wine Workshops she was inspired to take her message of mindful tasting to a wider audience. The intention of this podcast is to empower you with teachings that are served up in digestible bites that you can then put into action in your life. Maria: [00:00:00] Hello, it's Maria, and I'm so excited! Season one is around the corner, so I wanted to give you a quick glimpse of what to expect, starting with a little about me. I'm Maria, I'll be your host, and I'm a wellbeing coach and meditation teacher. I also teach and mentor on Ayurvedic lifestyle. So that's things like breath work, yoga, nutrition, mindfulness.
And one of my favorite things to teach is mindful tasting. You see, I've had a long love affair with wine and been in the wine industry for 10 years, educating in a beautiful boutique winery. But here's the thing, I wasn't always this zen nor this mindful. My journey has been from self-medicating to meditating.
In 2020, I decided to pivot out of a 20 year career in the software industry and step into my purpose work launch Take 5, where it's my mission to help you take your power back from anxiety and the effects of chronic stress. You can read all about my creds and inserts from Chopra Global, Yoga Alliance, et cetera, on my website.
But the most important piece here is experience. I use these teachings that I'll be sharing with you to take my own power from the symptoms of general anxiety disorder, as well as a nervous system dysfunction and chronic pain, and just everyday life stresses of being a busy working parent, which brings me to the why.
I believe we each have a unique capacity to heal, and that you are much more powerful than you think. It's my intention with this podcast to take all my research, studying, and training in these teachings and serve them up to you in digestible bites, and keep 'em fun and tasty. I want to empower you to find the healing tools that work for your uniqueness.
I'll be coming at you weekly, either solo or with a fun guest, and it'll be perfect for a 20 minute car ride. With each episode, there'll be a teaching that you can then put into action to support your wellbeing, and we'll also explore a featured wine. As for the finish, as we say in the wine industry, I'll take you through a Take 5 guided relaxation, because here's the thing, this world is not going to get any less stressful, but you can become more resilient to life's' stresses, and I'm here to help you learn how.
